Papa soup.
There are only a few things I make beyond pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. And this is one , my famous "Papa soup". The most amazing thing about it is all the kids eat it. Amazing!
Ben caught some HUGE catfish in the Mississippi River
My new favorite thing to do is catch catfish in the Mississippi River near our house. Rarely get the chance, and rarely catch something, but twice this summer I did and it was F to the U to the N. Here are a couple of whoppers and then a tiny one. And a tiny one :)

They've known each other since kindergarten. Here they are last fall, and then some photos from years past for fun. Such fun to watch them grow up together.
Fun on a frozen Lake Nokomis last years.
The ice is just now starting to freeze solid again, and we are all super hopeful there is a moment this summer when the lake is smooth as glass. Last year, for a precious and extraordinary two weeks, the lake was perfectly smooth and SO FUN. Uncle Josh helped us make the skate-sail things from PVC pipe and it was just absolutely beautiful and incredibly fast and fun. Skating under the Cedar Avenue bridge. Hit a hockey puck and it goes foreeeeeever. Listening to the ice 'crack'. it's a wonderful, deep, scary sound. The ice feels alive. Beauty everywhere out there.
Unapproved sign changing is going on in our house.
I tried to make a simple declarative sentence and WHAM BAM, the next day it was defaced. So frustrating. My version. Child-defaced version.
