Art's piano recital today

Art would tell you it went "horribly" because he messed up a couple times. But listen to the beauty that came out of our little boy today! Jessica and I just watched this video together and we melted. He doesn't speak this language when he practices at home, but when he's in front of people he plays gorgeously, with real expression and understanding. It's wonderful and something that makes us proud of him and happy to hear.  This is Art playing Erik Satie's 'Gnossienne 2' at his the Big Show, and annual recital put on by his wonderful piano teacher Sharon [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr2zwUo5UYU?rel=0&showinfo=0]

Lewis adjusted the photos of his cousins on our fridge.

A super friendly note left by Lewis over a homemade pretzel he was saving for me.

It was wonderful to see their proud, excited faces when I walked in.

Brave Lewis had a nose procedure

They had to put him under as they moved his broken nose back into position.  A pre-op photo from Jessica.

A rare sighting of a Netta ponytail.

ARTHUR SCORED A GOAL IN HOCKEY!!!

I sadly don't a have a photo, but posting this for the blogging record. Last night Art scored his first ever hockey goal and it was awesome. We are really proud of him for trying hard things and getting better at them.

Jessica, Emily and Joanna are in Hawaii

Jessica is having a long overdue, much deserved vacation in Hawaii with her sister and Joanna, her step-mother-in-law who graciously sponsored week long trip. Some photos! Here's some of the work they've been getting done over there: The farmer's market goods:  The three of them are returning tonight, an event our who family is anxiously awaiting.

Poor Lewis got hurt

Image
We have some hanging rings in our basement and one of them allows you to spin indefinitely, it's kind of a heavy metal bar that spins with a ball join. And sadly it snapped completely out of the wood, the huge screw popped out. And the bar hit Lewis super hard in the face. And broke his nose. It's very sad and I feel bad.  It was a scary moment, lots of blood and what not. Arthur felt bad it wasn't him that got hurt. Lewis is an amazing sport and as cheerful as anyone could or should be in the situation.  On Monday he'll go back to the doctor to get his nose adjusted, a procedure which requires him to get some happy-feeling gas. Luckily there will be no long-term damage but it's still a bummer. Here he is in a photo Jessica took this morning.  Arthur in the other kids are enjoying noticing how his face is turning different colors every day.
