Stroller mishap

DO IT AGAIN, PAPA!

DON'T MESS WITH THE SANDALS

The other night I came home late, everyone was asleep. As I always do I checked on all the kids, adjusted covers, administered kiss or two, etc. The other day as I was doing this I chuckled and noticed Netta was wearing sandals. I took them off as she was sleeping and never looked back. But the next morning I was admonished by Netta's gentle 3-year-old self. And tonight, about a week later as I'm working late, this email arrives from Jessica:  "Netta is sleeping in her sandals and she specifically asked me to make sure you do not take them off."  No problem, Netta!

Bailey's dinner

Image
An email from Jessica: Bailey effectively cut, battered and breaded the fish. And dumped the rest of the breadcrumbs in the dish for the last two pieces. You know, so there would be enough. This is what Bailey was saying as she brought her plate in:

Signs of spring

Sometimes hard for me to see the kids play do thoroughly and dirtily in the mud. Jessica is much more encouraging. The kids absolutely adore playing in water and mud, it's impossible to keep them out of it.

Netta (and Bailey) had their first dentist visits recently. All is well except for their love of thumbsucking...

Devils Den State Park [updated with more pix]

Image
During our recent vacation to Arkansas  (just me and the boys), we went to the fantastic Devil's Den State Park. I've been there so many times as a kid, such a trip to go back as an adult with my kids. There's an actual cave that I explored in many times as a kid. Sadly it was closed off a few years ago due to a fungus that can kill bats. We still felt the cold cave air and climbed down in other smaller caves and crevices. We went hiking there twice, the first time with my ma. And we all got lost. Literally, for more than an hour we were wandering around the woods looking for the trail. An adventure for everyone! Netta's postcard

Tomorrow me and Lewis and Arthur return home from our vacation in Arkansas. It has been good fun having this special time with those boys. We went to devils den State Park twice, a beautiful place. I'll share some photos of that at some point. Anyway, just wanted to share this postcard we got today from Netta.

Spring break at Nanna's house in Arkansas

Image
We split the family up along gender lines for spring break. Jess in MPLS with Bailey and Netta, I drove with the boys back to my childhood home in Fayetteville, Arkansas to be with my ma. We've been having a lovely time riding scooters around and soaking in Nanna's new hot tub.

Leave Bailey and Netta alone in a room with markers and this is what happens.
