The Minnesota State Fair on speed.

http://services.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f8/1630487466 This is a time lapse video stringing together more than 4,000 still images from the huge and chaotic Minnesota State Fair. It's not kid-related, but it's cool enough to post anyhow!

Ok. You have to blog that.

After dinner Ben asked Art if he would like to go on a bike ride to a new park and afterwards share some ice cream.  Art said, "I don't want to share the ice cream.  I want to have my own ice cream."  Ben said, "Oh, you want your own small cone?"  "No, I don't want it small.  I want a big one.  A really big one!  I want it to go up [raises hand way above his head] there!" Ha ha!  What a smart cookie!

At the park

I was busy feeding Lewis so I couldnt' play with Art at the moment, but he kept trying to convince me anyway. He said, "You wanna go play over there, Mama? You might be inspired." (This wonderful vocabulary moment brought to you by Hugo and Miles in I've Painted Everything in which Miles tells Hugo to go to Paris with him where he might be "inspired to paint something new".)

"I'm a bear." Art fell asleep while reading books in his room this afternoon. Jess says, "There were no books on the floor when he started. He was supposed to be taking a nap but got out of bed and 'read' through all those books and fell asleep." I love this photo Jessica took of me and Lew. Does Jessica look like Lew? Our neighbor Emily thinks so...

Art's favorite youtube Video

Art likes it because the trains go really fast and they also go through a lot of tunnels. I just think it's kind of weird and funny. -Jessica [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVZFakJEG_4&hl=en&fs=1&w=425&h=344]

Lew's Milestone, of late

As of about a week ago Lew has been putting toys in his mouth! This is a huge milestone in my book. He is now an official BABY, as far as I'm concerned. And he drools like crazy, but he's been doing that for a long time now. Also, Lew laughs! You can get a hearty guffaw out of him if you eat his neck, give him a flubber dubber or, sometimes, if you just make some silly sounds for while. He just loves to smile. He's flipped over twice, but I haven't seen either time because I had him on his belly and left the room only to return and find him on his back. Finally, Lewis has a great big brother. Every once in a while I'll have to dart to the kitchen or upstairs and Lewis and Arthur will be alone together and when I return Art is shaking a rattle for Lewis or giving him a gackoo, or bouncing him in his bouncy seat. Very nice.

this morning

Jessica and I were in the kitchen and Arthur was in the living room watching LeVar Burton on Reading Rainbow (his favorite show). I asked Jess what the show was about today. She went in to look: "They're talking about slavery." We switched it to a show on the Bronx zoo...

4am Polititudes

I was nursing Lew at 4am and heard from Art's room, in a clear voice, "Can I have some more covers, please?" Now that's how you know the whole please and thank you thing has sunken in.

Smiley.

Poor Lew. Doesn't get his picture taken very often, since mostly he just sits in a bouncy seat or rides along in a sling or something. But something he does do a lot is smile. He is very smiley. Take a look!
