This past weekend Art, my sister Emily , my entire family and I were in Florida for my cousin's wedding. It was fun! Art got over his fear of the ocean and waded all the way up to his armpits! He also made a new best friend in my cousin's son Zach, who LOVES babies. Emily was my surrogate husband since Ben had to stay home for work. She took on much Art entertainment responsibility. Thanks Em! All in all it was a great time. Whoo hoo!
While Jess and Art are away, here's a few old photos of a tiny baby.

Jessica and Art flew off this morning to Florida for her cousin's wedding. They'll be gone until Wednesday and I already miss them. It'll be nice to sleep through the night, but it'll be really quiet and lonely. As I crawled into bed tonight I saw one of arts tiny socks on the pillow and I really felt sad. I miss him and love him so much.

A few weeks ago I duct taped some toys to our old coffee table and it has been a major hot spot for Art ever since. He also has a few pushing toys for the day when he finally decides to walk, but for now he has found some rather creative ways of using them. Art has some mad skills nowadays. He is now officially smarter than my dog-in-law Poncho. He can follow commands, he understands cause and effect, he can retrieve things, can point at our cat Carma on command and can even mutilate her name in a slightly recognizable way ("Ladla!"), he can put lids on things, he can feed himself, he can split peas with his finger and squish them out of their skins - there are a lot of things that Art can do that are as smart or smarter than Poncho. But Poncho is still one of the smartest dogs I know. Poncho can turn his dog-bed over, and it's pretty graceful when he does it, too.

5. The pool. Art LOVED being in the pool. It was hard work for us, since we had to wrestle with his freakishly strong body to keep his head above water, but he had a super fun time. 4. La Cocina. The hotel restaurant was really good, and anything grilled was spectacular. 3. The bus. I love public transportation, and since we stayed in a jungly area it was extra fun and beautiful. Plus I got to use some Spanish, of which I know the tiniest bit. 2. The Westin Regina Luxury Hotel. Even though we were only there for one night, it was amazing and kinda neat to see how the other half lives. 1. Botanical Gardens. The Botanical Gardens were closed the day we went but the American who runs the place let us on the grounds anyway. We walked through a small jungle trail and saw the biggest spider we had ever seen, hung out in the utopic cafe area and ate bananas, and walked down the river path where we skinny dipped. Try doing that when the place is open! There were some lowlights, ...

Our first night was in a superfancy Westin Hotel. It was so fancy! It hadsomething like 15 pools or more, a swim-up bar, boutique with Perry Ellis swimsuits - it was quite beautiful but the room was not very Art friendly and it was just over our head. But now we are in our home for the week - Casa Iguana. It´s more our speed. It is on the edge of a jungle near the mountains, there´s only a few families here and the room has a kitchenette. Today we tookt the bus into town, had meat tacos and juice in a bag, and were harrassed by a few timeshare reps. Art is doing well. So far he has taken excellent, long naps and LOVES the pool. He does not, however, like the ocean. It scares him. He has met it twice and both times it made him cry a bit. We may try again tomorrow. Hasta luego!
